Coping with Grief Overview

George Hartnett’s funeral directors care about your journey and understand the sadness that can come after the loss of a loved one.

Coping with this loss can seem overwhelming and so our caring funeral directors have pulled together some information on how to cope with the emotional and physical after effects of loss. These can include numbness, denial, confusion, shock, sadness, yearning, anger, despair and guilt. These are all completely normal emotional responses for a person grieving.

People deal with issues of death and loss very differently. No two people will experience a loss, even the same loss, in exactly the same way. Different cultures and religions see these things in different ways too.

The grieving process takes time and healing usually happens gradually. Your feelings of loss and sadness may never go away completely, but your grief will eventually lighten.
